Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Wednesday’s session.

Orient Green Power Company(up 4.97%), Karma Energy(up 4.95%), RTNPOWER(up 4.84%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.79%), Energy Development Company(up 3.84%), KEC International(up 3.73%), NLC India(up 3.52%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 2.83%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 2.59%) and PTC India(up 2.23%) stood among the top gainers.

DPSC(down 4.95%), SJVN(down 1.11%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.01%), Reliance Power(down 0.89%), NHPC(down 0.86%), Adani Energy Solutions(down 0.61%), KPI Green Energy(down 0.61%), Alstom T&D India(down 0.47%) and Kalpataru Projects International(down 0.09%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 231.9 points up at 19675.45, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 742.06 points at 65675.93.

Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 5.56%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 3.74%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 3.67%), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 2.8%), Infosys Ltd.(up 2.69%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 2.67%), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.62%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 2.52%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.43%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 2.18%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.85%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.03%) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.01%) closed in the red.
