Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.47%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Wipro Ltd.(up 3.77 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.51 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.35 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 6.3 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 4.5 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 2.11 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.66 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(down 0.65 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 1.47 per cent down at 42106.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 104.21 points at 24854.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 218.14 points at 81224.75.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, Manappuram Finance, JP Power and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of SIL Investments, Nalwa Sons Invst, Pennar Ind, Motilal Oswal and Vishnu Prakash R Punglia hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Akshar Spintex, SecUR Credentials, Fusion Micro Finance, HEG and Keerti Knowledge hit their fresh 52-week lows.
