Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.29%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of L&T Technology Services Ltd.(up 2.42 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.79 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 5.35 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 4.7 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 3.57 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.43 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.05 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 1.29 per cent down at 41562.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 72.96 points at 24781.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 73.48 points at 81151.27.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, YES Bank, RBL Bank and JM Financial were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Diffusion Engineers, SIL Investments, Pilani Invest, GFL Ltd. and Vardhman Hold hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while RBL Bank, APM Finvest, Satin Creditcare, Vodafone Idea and Future Consumer hit their fresh 52-week lows.
