Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.99%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of State Bank of India(up 0.7 per cent) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.08 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 2.47 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.57 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 1.37 per cent) and Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.99 per cent down at 51288.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 221.46 points at 24749.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 494.75 points at 81006.61.
