Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 10:39AM

JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 4.91%), Bajaj Consumer(up 4.04%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(up 3.32%), Patanjali Foods(up 1.67%), Tasty Bite Eatables(up 1.40%), Umang Dairies(up 1.36%), Sheetal Cool Products(up 1.27%), Colgate Palmolive(India)(up 0.84%), Emami(up 0.53%) and Adani Wilmar(up 0.34%) were among the top gainers.

Nakoda Group(down 5.75%), Euro India Fresh Foods(down 1.76%), Prataap Snacks(down 1.27%), Nestle India(down 1.00%), Dabur India(down 0.78%), Godrej Consumer Products(down 0.72%), Dodla Dairy(down 0.65%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.64%), Heritage Foods(down 0.59%) and TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.56%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 28.75 points down at 19782.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 106.37 points at 66366.68 at around 10:39AM.

Coal India Ltd.(up 2.07%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.92%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 1.48%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 1.36%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.29%), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.27%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 1.02%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 0.96%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.9%) and Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 0.79%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.66%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.07%), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.03%), Cipla Ltd.(down 0.99%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.95%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.8%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.74%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.72%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 0.66%) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.64%) were trading in the red.
