Share price of Avenue Supermart falls as Sensex gains 444.13 points

Share price of Avenue Supermarts Ltd. dropped 0.53 per cent to Rs 3768.0 at 12:54PM (IST) in Thursday’s trade. The counter hit a high of Rs 3798.35 and low of Rs 3762.8 so far during the session. The stock had closed at Rs 3788.1 in the previous session.

The counter had a total traded volume of 12:54PM shares so far with a turnover of Rs 1.23 crore on BSE. The stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 105.24 and a price-to-book ratio of 13.72.

A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price for per rupee earnings given by the stock because of better future growth expectations.

The price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.

Promoters held 74.65 per cent stake in the company as of 30-Sep-2023, while foreign investors and domestic institutional investors ownership stood at 7.67 per cent and 8.2 per cent, respectively.

The company reported consolidated sales of Rs 12661.29 crore for the quarter ended 30-Sep-2023, up 6.36 per cent from the previous quarter’s Rs 11904.18 crore and up 18.62 per cent from the year-ago quarter’s Rs 10673.9 crore.

Its profit for the latest quarter stood at Rs 623.56 crore, down 9.07 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.
