Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.39 per cent) and Sanofi India Ltd.(up 0.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 3.69 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(down 3.09 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 2.98 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.27 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 2.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.94 per cent down at 17195.95.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 197.8 points at 21513.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 670.93 points at 71355.22.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 ended in the green, while 38 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Trident Ltd, Vodafone Idea, GMR Infra and Reliance Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Morarjee Text, Pavna Industries, Shyam Century Ferro, Vertoz Advertising and Sula Vineyards hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Penta Gold, Gandhar Oil Refinery, Raj Rayon, Muthoot Microfin and Azad Engineering hit their fresh 52-week lows.
