Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 6.89 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 1.24 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.01 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 0.91 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 0.59 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ajanta Pharma Ltd.(down 2.13 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.01 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(down 0.97 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.31 per cent at 22572.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 165.96 points at 23753.45, while the BSE Sensex stood 498.58 points at 78540.17.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zomato, Vishal Mega Mart, YES Bank and JP Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Sundaram Brake, BSL Ltd, Aaron Industries, Mohit Inds and Asian Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while U Y Fincorp, MT Educare, Coffee Day Ent, Odigma Consultancy and Digjam hit their fresh 52-week lows.
