Shares of TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 3.36 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 3.28 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.8 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.71 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.39 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 2.53 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 2.49 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 1.87 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.12 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.78 per cent up at 22633.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 345.0 points at 21957.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1062.22 points at 72404.17. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, PNB and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Smartlink Holdings, IRIS Business Servic, Vijaya Diagnostic, Kirloskar Elec and Dolphin Offshore hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Ibull Housing Fin(PP), Asian Paints, Amaze Entertech, Lancor Holdings and Apollo Pipes hit their fresh 52-week lows.
