Shares of TVS Motor Company(up 0.73 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bosch(down 3.86 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 3.5 per cent), Tata Motors(down 3.26 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 2.99 per cent) and Eicher Motors(down 2.44 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.66 per cent down at 15428.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 207.0 points at 19526.55, while the BSE Sensex stood down 676.53 points at 65782.78.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red.
Shares of Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, Indian Railway Fin, Vodafone Idea and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of MPS Ltd, Man Industries, Vertexplus Technolo, GE Power India and Star Cement hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while SMVD Poly Pack, KKV Agro Powers Ltd., Richa Info Systems L, Jalan Transolutions and Campus Activewear hit their fresh 52-week lows.
