Shares of Cipla Ltd.(up 9.42 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 4.17 per cent), Sanofi India Ltd.(up 3.52 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(up 2.67 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 1.44 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.62 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.29 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.18 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.61 per cent at 22735.55.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 135.5 points at 24205.35, while the BSE Sensex stood 553.12 points at 79389.06.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 ended in the green, while 37 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank, PNB, YES Bank and IRFC were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Prudent Corporate Advisory Svcs, The Anup Engg, Waaree Energies, Windlas Biotech and Interarch Building hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Prince Pipes, OCCL Ltd., Restaurant Brands, Axita Cotton and NRB Industrial hit their fresh 52-week lows.
