Shares of Cipla Ltd.(up 7.05 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 3.94 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 3.61 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 2.01 per cent) and Natco Pharma Ltd.(up 1.37 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd.(down 4.18 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 2.8 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.96 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.94 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.53 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.66 per cent up at 17520.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 333.0 points at 21238.8, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1053.1 points at 70370.55.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, Zee Ent. and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Swelect Energy, Visaka Ind, Salasar Techno Engg, HLV Ltd. and Borosil Renewables hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Zee Ent., Stampede Cap(DVR), Credo Brands Marketi, Tatva Chintan Pharm and VIP Ind. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
