1. BSE’s Sensex rose 491 points and closed at 71,847

5. Bajaj Finance closed 4.4% higher and was among the top Sensex gainers. According to a business update, the non-bank lender reported a 26% year-on-year increase in new loans and a 35% jump in AUMs in the December quarter.
6. Sobha realty jumped around 19% intraday and hit a 52 wk high after Motilal Oswal picked it up as the top idea for 2024.
7. Torrent Power closed 7.5% higher after announcing Rs 47,400 crore of investments in solar power projects, green hydrogen and ammonia manufacturing plants in Gujarat.
8. Nifty Financials rose 1.22%, Nifty Realty index was up 6.76% to a new record high, led by Sobha, Macrotech Developers, Godrej Properties, and DLF.
9. The Indian rupee ended a little bit stronger aided by dollar inflows and closed at 83.23 against the USD.
10. Oil rose nearly 1% on Thursday on concerns over Middle Eastern supply following disruptions at an oilfield in Libya and tensions due to the Israel-Hamas war. Brent crude futures were at $78.87 a barrel, while US WTI crude futures were at $73.41.
