Last week, the board of the exchange had approved the appointment of Agrawal as the chairman of the governing board as the term of current chairman S S Mundra ends on January 16.
In May last year, BSE had appointed Mundra, a retired deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India, as the chairman of the bourse.
On Wednesday, shares of BSE ended nearly 4% down at Rs 2,311.75. The stock has been a star performer in 2023, giving investors a whopping 325% returns.
