Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.59%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Coforge Ltd.(up 0.6 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 0.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 5.63 per cent), MphasiS Ltd.(down 1.55 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.12 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 0.96 per cent) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.87 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.59 per cent down at 31606.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 140.4 points at 19671.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 551.07 points at 65877.02.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.

Shares of IRB Infra Dev., Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, JP Power and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of GKW Ltd, Cinevista Ltd, Signet Ind, IIFL Securities and Sastasundar Ventures hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Vaxtex Cotfab, Nakoda Group Of Ind, Xelpmoc Design, Rajesh Exports and TCI Express hit their fresh 52-week lows.
