In a filing with the SEC on Monday, Nvidia disclosed plans for the capital raise but didn’t include the dollar amount. Earlier this year, the chipmaker said it could raise up to $25 billion through issuance of unsecured commercial paper notes. The debt sale could end up closer to $25 billion, said the sources, who asked not to be named because the numbers aren’t public.

Nvidia shares rose 3.5% on Monday and are up about 14% this year.

The chipmaker is the latest tech company tied to the artificial intelligence trade to tap the capital markets. Alphabet announced plans earlier this month to raise $85 billion in equity-related offerings after securing more than $55 billion in fresh debt since November. And last week, Super Micro announced $7 billion in equity-related financing deals to help to cover the cost of hardware component purchases.

Amazon, meanwhile, raised roughly $54 billion in debt earlier this year in U.S. and European bond sales, and it announced plans last week to raise about $10 billion in a Canadian debt sale

Nvidia has about $7.5 billion in long-term debt and another $1 billion in short-term debt. In its last debt raise in 2021, Nvidia brought in $5 billion, with notes maturing as late as 2031. But Nvidia was a much smaller company then, generating revenue in fiscal 2022 of about $27 billion, compared with sales of $216 billion in fiscal 2026.

The launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022 was a major catalyst for Nvidia’s historic rate of growth that followed, as AI model companies and hyperscalers started gobbling up as many of the company’s graphics processing units as they could.

An Nvidia spokesperson said that the company intends to use the proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes, including repayment and refinancing of existing debt.

Nvidia announced an aggressive capital return program in May, when it raised its dividend from a penny a share to 25 cents and said it planned to repurchase $80 billion in shares. Nvidia generated $49 billion in free cash flow in the latest quarter, up from $35 billion in the same period a year earlier, and reiterated plans in its latest earnings call to “return roughly 50% of free cash flow to shareholders this year.”

Pakistan says the United States and Iran have reached an agreement to end the war and open the Strait of Hormuz, offering relief to the global economy more than three months since the war began.

Full details of the deal were not immediately available. The signing will be Friday in Switzerland. It is not clear how quickly the strait might reopen to all traffic. The U.S. previously said it would ease its blockade of Iranian ports as the strait reopens, and would agree to relax sanctions to allow Iran to sell more of its oil and strengthen its battered economy.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed a deal had been reached with Iran and said he had authorized an end to the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Congratulations to all!” he wrote on social media, without providing details. He added, “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

Iranian state media reported Pakistan’s statement after a day in which Israel, sidelined from the negotiations, attacked Beirut’s southern suburbs and posed a threat to the discussions nearing an end.

“Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Pakistan said, adding that mediators this week will facilitate meetings to “lay the foundation for the technical talks.”

The deal largely returns to a status that existed before the war, but with thousands of people dead and Iran wielding a new source of negotiating pressure with its ability to influence transits of the strait. The waterway is crucial to significant shipments of oil, natural gas and related products like fertilizer, and its effective closure rocked the global economy.

Of the stated targets by the U.S. and Israel when they launched the war on Feb. 28 with strikes that killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Tehran still has a missile program, support for armed proxies in the region like Hezbollah in Lebanon and a stockpile of highly enriched uranium for its nuclear program.

Khamenei’s son is now supreme leader, though he has not been seen in the public since the war began. His approval was needed for Iran to sign off on the deal.

Iran has wanted a ceasefire deal to include the fighting in Lebanon, where Israel has pushed its invasion deeper than at any point in over a quarter-century as it targets Hezbollah. Tehran also has sought the release of billions of dollars in frozen funds.

The emerging deal had been sharply criticized by Israel’s government, and by critics in Trump’s own Republican Party. Some said it did not improve on the terms of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal that Trump withdrew the U.S. from during his first term and still describes as “bad.”

After the war began, Iran attacked Israel and several Arab Gulf nations with missiles and drones. A ceasefire was reached on April 7. Ten days later, the U.S. military imposed its blockade. A historic face-to-face meeting between Vice President JD Vance and Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf ended without success.

Throughout negotiations, Trump alternatively threatened to destroy Iranian infrastructure, even its civilization, and praised the relationship with Iran as “more professional” as his administration sought an exit from the war with midterm U.S. elections coming later this year.

Iran’s government, with its own tensions around hardliners as it scrambled to replace several top officials killed in the war, repeatedly expressed wariness of negotiations after rounds of talks last year and early this year ended with U.S. and Israeli attacks.

Tehran has emphasized that it wanted a deal to focus on ending the war, with discussions put off until later on its nuclear program — the issue at the center of it all.

Iran has 440.9 kilograms (972 pounds) of uranium that is enriched up to 60% purity, a short, technical step from weapons-grade levels of 90%, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iran has long maintained its nuclear program is peaceful and has not publicly committed to giving up the enriched uranium, which is believed to be buried under three nuclear sites that were badly damaged by U.S. strikes last year.

At times, the U.S. had sought the removal of the enriched uranium from Iran as part of a deal. Russia has offered to take it. At other times, Trump said he wanted the uranium destroyed.

Blockbuster public offerings from companies involved in the global artificial intelligence race could be an enduring feature of the industry, Min-Liang Tan, CEO at Singaporean gaming company Razer, said Thursday, ahead of a series of widely anticipated public debuts from major AI companies.

“I think with this host of new companies going out into public capital markets, it’s super exciting, but I think this would be just the beginning,” Tan told CNBC’s Joanna Ossinger at Singapore’s SuperAI convention, referring to IPO filings from tech giants SpaceX, Anthropic and OpenAI.

“We’re going to see a second generation, a third generation, different waves coming through,” he added.

Tan’s remarks come a day before Elon Musk’s SpaceX — which includes xAI, the business unit overseeing X and Musk’s Grok model — makes its public debut, targeting a historic $1.77 trillion valuation in its IPO.

OpenAI filed to go public Monday afternoon stateside, hot on the heels of its rival Anthropic, which submitted an IPO filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission a week earlier.

Anthropic closed its Series H funding round on May 28 at a $965 billion valuation, edging out OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion in March.

Unlike the frenzy of filings from the AI companies set to make their Wall Street debuts, Tan’s Razer delisted from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in April 2022 — after five years on the exchange — in a move that he said was to allow them to focus on AI development.

Razer’s privatization deal saw a consortium of investors led by co-founder Tan and Hong Kong-based private equity firm CVC Capital Partners offer up to 10.79 billion Hong Kong dollars ($1.38 billion) to buyout shares they did not own at HK$2.82 apiece. The company debuted in 2017 with its IPO priced at HK$3.88 per share.

The company said in February that it had invested over $600 million in AI development, and has launched a suite of wearable AI products for its gaming-focused core target audience.

Tan touted Project Motoko — the company’s AI headset that it launched in January at CES — onstage at SuperAI, which provides users real-time translation services, cooking guidance, and repair instructions.

Razer’s Other AI hardware offerings include a workstation designed for heavy AI workloads and Ava, an AI desktop companion.

“We are all-in on AI,” Tan said, adding that the company was exploring how AI could exhibit human-like personalities and emotions.

Indian benchmark indices witnessed a sharp sell-off on 8 June amid weakness in global markets, escalating geopolitical tensions, and a surge in crude oil prices, raising concerns over inflationary pressures and their potential impact on economic growth. Analysts say Nifty after the recent corrective decline has approached the immediate support area of 23,000-23,200 being the confluence of the April 8 bullish gap area and the 61.8% retracement of the previous pullback (22,182-24,601).

STATE OF THE MARKETS

Gift Nifty (Earlier SGX Nifty) signals a muted start.

Nifty futures on the Gift Nifty traded 4 pts lower at 23,173.

Tech View: A move above and sustained trading beyond 23,125 could trigger a meaningful recovery towards the 23,250–23,300 zone. On the downside, a breach below 23,070 may invalidate the pattern and drag Nifty below the 23,000 mark.

“We’re adding another production line, it’s really a carbon copy of what you see here in Renton,” Ortberg said. “We’ll be loading our first airplane on July 6, so just about a month from now, we’ll be bringing that [fourth] line alive.”

The new 737 Max final assembly line in Everett, Washington, will serve as a catalyst for increasing Max production to 52 jets per month — a pace that’s expected to begin next year. Boeing is currently building 47 Maxes per month after ramping output from 42 a month earlier this year.

While Boeing wants to build and deliver more 737 Max planes, its production is capped by the Federal Aviation Administration, which put limits on its manufacturing after a door plug blew out on an Alaska Airlines plane in January 2024.

That incident prompted lengthy reviews of safety and quality issues in the manufacturing process at Boeing.

“We’re trying to reset that track record, and I think we’ve done a good job as we’ve come back up here in the last 18 months and increased rate, and we’ve done it differently,” Ortberg said. “We’ve made sure that we’re not moving until the production system is stable. We’re not pushing work down the production line like we were before. So I think that gives us all optimism.”

Ortberg and Boeing leadership have set a long-term goal for Max production of 63 per month, if the supply chain can support the increase.

The new assembly line will start with production of the 737 Max 10, a stretch version of the single aisle plane that is expected to be certified by the FAA before the end of the year, clearing the way for the first 737 Max 10 deliveries.

Bitcoin is sitting at a make-or-break zone, according to market analyst CryptoMichNL, who recently outlined two key price areas that could determine the asset’s next major move. While he believes the broader bullish structure remains intact, he also identified a lower range where investors may find what he considers one of the most attractive buying opportunities of the current cycle if support fails.

Bitcoin’s Most Important Support Zone

The analyst’s outlook centers on the region around $71,000 to $73,000, which he described as the level that must remain intact to prevent a deeper pullback. His accompanying chart highlights this area as a critical support block, positioned above a broader uptrend line that has guided Bitcoin’s recovery following the sharp correction seen earlier in the year.

According to the chart, the current market structure differs significantly from the breakdown that occurred in February. At that time, a previously established resistance level failed to transition into support, resulting in a rapid loss of momentum and a steep decline. This time, however, the analyst argues that the market is attempting to defend a former resistance zone as support, a development that could preserve the larger bullish framework.

Source: X

The chart also marks a “crucial area to break” near $76,600. Bitcoin recently retreated from that region after encountering resistance, leaving it as the next major hurdle for bulls. Just above it sits a Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) gap around $79,000, followed by another resistance cluster near the upper-$80,000 range.

According to the analyst, holding support is only the first step. A successful defense of the $71,000 area would keep the broader structure intact and increase the probability of another advance toward those overhead targets. In that scenario, Bitcoin could regain momentum and position itself for a push toward fresh cycle highs.

Where To Buy If Bitcoin Breaks Down

While the analyst remains constructive on the market, he also mapped out a contingency plan in case support gives way. If Bitcoin loses the $71,000-$73,000 region, his chart points to a significantly lower accumulation zone between roughly $61,000 and $65,000.

That area is notable for several reasons. It aligns with historical support levels established during previous consolidation phases and sits close to the 200-day moving average, a long-term trend indicator closely watched by institutional and retail participants alike. The analyst suggested that a decline into that region would represent an exceptional opportunity to buy in.

For now, the market’s attention remains fixed on two levels. The first is the defense of support near $71,000. The second is a decisive breakout above $76,600. How Bitcoin reacts around those thresholds could determine whether the next chapter brings a renewed surge toward record highs or a final opportunity for buyers to accumulate at significantly lower prices between the $61,000-$65,000 region.

Ethereum’s long stretch of sideways movement may be closer to resolution than most market participants expect. A higher time frame analysis shared by a TradingView analyst suggests the current structure is the final stage before a larger expansion that sees the Ethereum price rallying by over 100% in 2026.

This prediction rests on decades of price history that, taken together, present a compelling case. Ethereum has done this before, the structure is intact, and a 100% move from the current price level is possible.

A Six-Year Consolidation Hiding A Bullish Structure

Technical analysis of higher timeframe charts, particularly the monthly candlestick timeframe, shows that Ethereum has spent much of the past six years locked in a wide consolidation range, with repeated failures between $4,500 and $4,900. That range has acted as a ceiling across multiple attempts, consistently attracting selling pressure each time price approaches it.

To understand where Ethereum may be going, a technical analyst known as Phil on the TradingView platform noted that traders must first understand where it has been. Not in weeks or months, but across the full sweep of its market history.

Related Reading

Two moments stand out as structural inflection points on the monthly chart. The first came in early 2017, when the ETH price broke above the $40 psychological resistance level after repeatedly failing to clear it throughout 2016. That was the ignition point for a rally of about 7,500%.

The second came in mid-2020, when Ethereum, having spent two years consolidating inside a falling wedge pattern, staged another breakout from the lower support trendline of that formation, launching a continuation rally of roughly 1,900%.

Ethereum Price Chart. Source: TradingView

The Breakout Path To A 100% Rally

What followed both breakouts was a prolonged period of sideways price action, and that is precisely where Ethereum finds itself again. ETH has now been consolidating for almost six years below $4,900. The overall bullish trend, however, has not been broken.

Corrections since 2021 have led to the creation of higher lows, and this is playing out an ascending triangle pattern on the monthly timeframe. Ethereum has already pulled back roughly 25% from its recent highs, easing bearish momentum into the support region of the triangle pattern.

Related Reading

On the other, the $2,000 psychological level, which ETH tested just weeks ago, provides a second significant floor. As it stands, ETH has already bounced approximately 8% on the monthly chart since the $2,000 low was reached and held. The next step, according to the analysis, would be confirmation through higher lows and a push away from support.

If the support holds and bullish confirmation develops, the path forward becomes relatively straightforward from a technical standpoint. The first major target is a return to the $4,500 resistance range. A clean break above that level would finalize the completion of the ascending triangle. According to the analyst, this is expected to play out a 100% rally in 2026.

The nine-person jury was seated on Monday in the high-stakes legal battle between longtime friends turned rivals Elon Musk and Sam Altman at a federal courthouse in Oakland, California.

Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers is overseeing the proceedings between the world’s richest person and the CEO of OpenAI. Opening arguments are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, and CNBC is in the courtroom for the proceedings.

Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015, sued the company, Altman and Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s president, in 2024, alleging they reneged on their commitments to keep the artificial intelligence lab a nonprofit and follow its charitable mission. OpenAI has repeatedly dismissed Musk’s lawsuit as “baseless.” Musk left OpenAI’s board in 2018, and five years later started xAI as a rival, merging that company with SpaceX earlier this year.

Musk has sought a number of different remedies over the course of the case, including the removal of Altman and Brockman from their roles at OpenAI. Musk’s lawyers said in January that he should receive up to $134 billion in “wrongful gains,” though he has since asked to funnel those funds back into the OpenAI charity.

Gonzalez Rogers opted to divide the trial into two parts: a liability phase to decide if any wrongdoing occurred, and a remedies phase to determine the appropriate damages and next steps. The jury will weigh in during the liability phase only, and its verdict will be advisory, which means Gonzalez Rogers will make the final decision in both sections of the trial.

The liability phase of the trial is expected to wrap up by May 21, Gonzalez Rogers said Monday.

Gonzalez Rogers started the proceedings by welcoming the prospective jurors to the courtroom. She cracked some jokes as she explained the case laid out the trial’s schedule.

Lawyers grilled prospective jurors on their views on AI, Musk and Altman. Some confessed to holding negative views of Musk due to his political ideology.

“The reality is people don’t like him,” Gonzales Rogers said at one point. She expressed confidence that the jurors selected will respect the judicial process and the facts of the case.

Altman and Brockman were in the courtroom on Monday.

Musk alleges in his lawsuit that he was “assiduously manipulated” and “deceived” by OpenAI, Altman and Brockman and their promises to “chart a safer, more open course than profit-driven tech giants.” He has asked the judge to consider unwinding the company’s recent restructuring, which cemented its structure as a nonprofit with a controlling stake in its for-profit business.

Musk and Altman have been in a public war of words for months leading up to the trial. That continued on Monday, with Musk writing in a post on X, “Scam Altman and Greg Stockman stole a charity. Full stop.”

The comment followed a post from the OpenAI Newsroom account.

“We can’t wait to make our case in court where both the truth and the law are on our side,” OpenAI wrote. “This lawsuit has always been a baseless and jealous bid to derail a competitor.”

Of the 26 claims that Musk asserted in 2024, only two remain: unjust enrichment and breach of charitable trust. Musk’s lawyers dismissed two of the claims, fraud and constructive fraud, ahead of the trial in an effort to “streamline the case,” according to a filing

The trial lands as Musk prepares to take SpaceX public in what’s likely to be a record IPO and as OpenAI gears up for its own expect public offering later this year. The two companies combined are valued at over $2 trillion on the private market.

A bitcoin comeback may be underway.

Just as the cryptocurrency was kicking off its latest winning week, ProShares’ Simeon Hyman was emphasizing a bullish bitcoin trend on CNBC’s “ETF Edge.”

“If you look at bitcoin, it’s up a little bit and equities are down [since the Iran war began,]” the firm’s global investment strategist said on Monday.” “So, I think the diversification story really holds in in this current environment.”

As of Friday’s market close, bitcoin gained 5% this week — with most of the gains coming over a 24-hour period. Plus, it’s up roughly 8% since the Iran war started on Feb. 28.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and gold are down more 3% since the war with Iran began, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq is off more than 2%.

ProShares is active in the cryptocurrency space — operating more than a dozen cryptocurrency ETFs. It launched the ProShares CoinDesk 20 Crypto ETF (KRYP) last month. It’s up nearly 5% since the Iran war began, but the fund is off about 7% since its early February debut.

Despite bitcoin’s recent strength, it’s still down more than 40% from its record high of $126,198 reached last October.

Main Management founding partner and CEO Kim Arthur thinks bitcoin is in a classic crypto winter — a so-called phenomenon that tends to happen every four years. According to Arthur, it’s in the bottoming stage.

“Bitcoin was trading at $125,000 five months ago. So, it was down 50-plus percent when this conflict erupted,” he said in the same interview. “I do like the fact that it’s outperformed a lot of other asset classes [since the war,] but… you have to widen the lens a little bit on that.”

Arthur, who has exposure to bitcoin, indicates he’s taking a passive investing approach to the cryptocurrency right now.

“For myself as an asset allocator and a portfolio manager… I look at bitcoin as my benchmark, and then I bench everything else against that,” said Arthur, who added bitcoin has been an extremely difficult master to beat particularly since 2021.

The digital currency has gained about 15% over the past five years.
