The biggest names in Bitcoin ownership quietly moved billions of dollars worth of the asset in the most recent week. Bitcoin held its ground above $74,000 when BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) shed over a billion dollars in BTC through consecutive daily redemptions, and a Satoshi-era miner shifted $203 million to over-the-counter trading desks, showing that someone on the other side of these transactions was absorbing the pressure.

BlackRock-Linked Bitcoin Wallets Shed Over $1 Billion With IBIT Outflows

Arkham Intelligence data shows that BlackRock-linked Bitcoin wallets sold every trading day last week, with total sales reaching about $1.01 billion for the entire week. The tracked movements were tied to about 15,000 BTC sent through Coinbase Prime, a flow that appears connected to redemptions from BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT.

However, the selling did not stop there, as the outflows have continued into this week. On May 25, an additional $105.19 million in outflows was recorded from IBIT, while another $333.71 million was recorded in outflows on May 26, extending the pressure into the new week.

The balance history data from Arkham shows IBIT’s holdings peaked above $75 billion in the first half of May, briefly touching near $75.5 billion around May 11. From that point, the fund’s balance declined in a near-uninterrupted slide, falling below $67 billion by May 26, a drop of about $8 billion from peak to trough over less than three weeks.

According to data from SoSoValue, the 11 US pot Bitcoin ETFs logged net outflows of $1.26 billion across the five trading days from May 18 to May 22. The reversal is notable given that April recorded $1.97 billion in net inflows, the strongest monthly total of 2026, and an early-May streak.

BlackRock Bitcoin Balance History. Source: Arkham

Satoshi-Era Miner Moves $203 Million In Bitcoin

The ETF outflows are not the only large-wallet activity catching attention. A Satoshi-era Bitcoin miner moved 2,650 BTC, worth around $203 million, to FalconX and Cumberland, two major OTC desks used by large holders and institutional counterparties. The transfers were split across three transactions, and the wallet still held about 6,000 BTC, worth about $460 million.

OTC desks are used to reduce visible price impact, especially when a large holder wants to find private counterparties without dropping a block of coins directly on crypto exchanges. There’s also the case of these Satoshi-era coins moving from inactive supply to active supply.

The strange part of this setup is that retail behavior has not fully matched the outflows coming from large wallets. Dip-buying language is loud across crypto social media, and Bitcoin’s ability to hold above $76,000 despite more than $1 billion in ETF-linked selling has helped keep the bullish crowd active.

The question being asked by Arkham, “If BlackRock is selling… who’s buying?” captures the current divide. The supply is clearly moving, but there is still enough demand to keep Bitcoin from breaking down immediately below $76,000.

But it also served as a reminder of how hard it is for non-AI companies to capture Wall Street’s attention.

Shares of the AI chipmaker popped almost 70% in their market debut on Thursday, lifting the company’s market cap to about $95 billion. Only two tech companies have ever closed their first day of trading in the U.S. with valuations of $100 billion or more: Alibaba and Facebook.

Cerebras also holds the distinction of largest IPO of the year and the biggest offering for a U.S. tech company since Uber hit the market in 2019.

While the excitement around Cerebras would seem to bode well for a tech IPO market that’s been largely dormant for the past four-plus years, the problem for just about every company in the pipeline is that they’re not named SpaceX, OpenAI or Anthropic.

Those three companies — each valued near or above $1 trillion — are in some stage of IPO prep, with SpaceX expected to file its public prospectus as soon as next week and the other two eyeing debuts later this year. Their offerings will dwarf anything that’s come before them and serve to further illustrate how small all the other multibillion-dollar pre-IPO companies are by comparison.

“It’s very hard to care about anything other than the $3 trillion potential IPOs that, in theory, are going to happen in the next year,” Sam Lessin, a partner at Slow Ventures, told CNBC’s “The Exchange” on Thursday.

The market has been a challenge for emerging tech companies since early 2022, when soaring inflation and rising interest rates pushed investors out of risk. There have been occasional pockets of activity since then, but U.S. venture-backed exit value last year was less than one-third the peak in 2021, according to the National Venture Capital Association’s annual yearbook, and tech IPOs this year have been almost nonexistent.

Cerebras presented investors with one of their first opportunities to get in on the AI boom with a pure-play tech stock, as all the action to date has been in the private market. The biggest prior offering in the space was AI infrastructure provider CoreWeave, which went public in March of last year and is now valued at over $58 billion.

Lise Buyer, founder of IPO advisory firm Class V group, said late-stage startups are in a period of “pragmatic preparation,” looking for potential signs of receptivity. But, she said, the market needs more data points before it can be declared open.

‘Haves and have-nots’

The conundrum for many of the high-valued startups isn’t just that the AI models are sucking up all the oxygen. The companies are also reckoning with the reality that the only thing ginning up excitement is AI, and the vast majority of companies in the pre-IPO category were created well before the launch of ChatGPT and the the start of the generative AI craze.

“It’s a story of haves and have-nots,” said Jai Das, a partner at Sapphire Ventures. “If you have a really strong AI story, you can go out, but if you’re a SaaS company that doesn’t have a lot of AI buzz, you’re going to have a hard time getting public market interest right now.”

Companies in SaaS, or software-as-a-service, have been some of the hardest hit by the public market on concern that many of their products will be, to some degree, replaced by AI models and agents.

For so-called AI native companies, Das said many will likely hold off on going public as they scale, or wait to see what demand looks like following OpenAI and Anthropic.

Rick Heitzmann, a partner at venture firm FirstMark, said companies preparing for IPOs want to see others take the leap first and show that the market is receptive.

“It’s going to encourage people to say, ‘Hey, jump in, the water’s warm,'” he said.

Cerebras is a good start, but it’s a unique case. Cerebras claims its Wafer Scale Engine 3 chips run faster than graphics processing units from Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company.

Earlier this year, Cerebras signed a $20 billion deal with OpenAI and an agreement with Amazon Web Services.

Attention now turns to SpaceX and Elon Musk’s effort to bring his reusable rocket maker to the public market. In February, Musk merged SpaceX with xAI, his AI startup, in a deal valued at $1.25 trillion. At that market cap, SpaceX would instantly be among the 10 most valuable U.S. tech companies.

“Nobody wants to be caught in the SpaceX blast radius,” said Renos Savvides, head of equity capital markets at Neuberger Berman. “If you’re a smaller IPO and you’re on the road the same time as SpaceX, no one is going to pay any attention to your deal.”

The Women’s National Basketball Association and its Players Association are inching closer to a collective bargaining agreement, now two days past their self-imposed deadline.

The parties have been meeting around the clock at a midtown hotel in New York, with negotiations stretching into the late morning hours to hammer out a deal, according to a person familiar with the process, who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly. There have been nine proposals exchanged between the two sides in recent days addressing nearly every issue up for discussion, the person said.

The negotiations come as women’s sports have seen major financial growth from bigger media deals and strong demand.

The WNBA previously said the new CBA would need to be in place by March 10 in order to start their season on time. Negotiations continued Thursday. It’s unclear what the delay will mean for the scheduled season start.

WNBPA President Nneka Ogwumike told reporters late Wednesday that players are “feeling movement” in the talks. The Players Association said it has been and will continue to be fully engaged in the negotiations.

“We want to play. We’ve heard that from the other side as well,” Ogwumike told reporters.

The latest league proposal included increases in nearly every category, according to a copy of the details obtained by CNBC.

According to the proposal, the league is offering a salary cap four times higher than the current cap — at $6.2 million, up from the existing cap of $1.5 million. That cap would grow annually with team and league revenue growth, per the proposal.

Average salaries would also see a major increase, starting at $570,000 in year one and growing to $850,000 in year six. The current average player salary in the league is about $120,000, according to a second person familiar with the current CBA, who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak on the matter publicly.

The proposal includes maximum salaries exceeding $1.3 million and growing to nearly $2 million. The current maximum contract under the existing CBA is just under $250,000, the second person added.

The sides are still at odds over revenue sharing, however, according to the first person familiar with the matter.

The latest proposal from the league includes a new uncapped revenue-sharing system that is tied to both league and team revenues, according to the version obtained by CNBC. It no longer includes minimum thresholds for sharing to be triggered.

The league is also offering new minimum standards for facility upgrades, such as locker rooms, weight rooms and treatment areas, as well as charter flight and first-class travel amenities for all league events and increased performance bonuses.

The WNBA season is set to kick off Friday, May 8, and the draft is scheduled for April 13.

Bitcoin was designed as a decentralized monetary network with no single point of control, but the structure of its ownership is quietly evolving. As issuance declines and liquidity thins, a growing share of the BTC circulating supply has been moving into the hands of powerful financial institutions, resulting in a steady accumulation that reshapes the dynamics of the BTC market, liquidity, and long-term distribution.

Does Institutional Adoption Change Bitcoin’s Purpose?

The financial-industrial complex is in the process of centralizing as much Bitcoin as possible. Crypto investor Simon Dixon has revealed on X that institutions want to accumulate BTC as a useful tool for managing the final capital outflow squeeze once it is ready, following its Western asset-stripping operations.

As BTC is a proof-of-work, accumulating it does not grant governance control or long-term price discovery. However, the accumulation does provide the tools needed to manage short-term price action. Institutions are in the accumulation phase, and they want self-custody for themselves and institutional custody for everybody else. Therefore, they can channel large capital flows into BTC while preserving an exit tool for sovereign wealth.

This is similar to how the British Empire utilized tax haven islands as escape valves. According to Simon, BTC is one of their exit strategies for managing sovereign wealth in a world where custody of vast gold reserves requires trusted custodians. Nothing has changed in terms of how to prepare, and the strategy remains to own more BTC in self-custody this month than the previous month. Any price suppression now is an opportunity; it won’t last.

Furthermore, the financial-industrial complex will engineer volatility through instruments like MicroStrategy and its derivatives ecosystem to margin-call as much BTC as possible while building more leverage tools. This isn’t about crypto, but a Silicon Valley liquidity grift, which is a way to supplement VC returns with added liquidity layered on top of private equity. Crypto is a technical industrial complex operation to build out the digital control grid.

Why Bitcoin As A Financial Lifeboat

The lesson of Venezuela is the best advertisement for Bitcoin ever created. Investor Fred Krueger noted that those who still had Bolivars in 2016 when hyperinflation began had a clear chance to accumulate BTC when it was trading below $1,000. Instead, they lost absolutely everything.

In 2018, when the regime rolled out the Petro, buying BTC instead would have delivered over 30% in returns. That altcoin that represented oil was limited and was shelved in 2024. This is the lesson for the BRICS. “Maduro and his inner circle probably owned very little BTC, believing they would remain in power forever, but a lot of them are regretting that today,” Fred noted.

The Fox Corp.-owned free streaming platform has long been among a sort of second tier of streaming services alongside lower-budget and less popular offerings like Pluto and The Roku Channel. But the free service is gaining traction and finding its footing in conversations with the big players.

In November, Tubi made up 2.1% of total streaming minutes on The Gauge, Nielsen’s monthly analysis of viewing trends, ahead of NBCUniversal’s Peacock and Warner Bros.
“Our fans come in, and they behave like [subscription streaming] viewers. The only difference is they don’t pay for it,” said Tubi’s chief marketing officer, Nicole Parlapiano, in an interview.

Netflix’s dominance in streaming has led many media companies to chase the same success, spending billions of dollars on original content to attract subscribers and strive for profitability.

In response, the cost of streaming has risen, with nearly every subscription platform instituting multiple price hikes in recent years and pushing consumers toward cheaper, ad-supported options. A crackdown on password sharing by some of the biggest players has also shaken up the space.

“People used to cut the cord, now they’re canceling subscriptions. And is that driving more consumption into free streaming? Absolutely,” Tubi Chief Content Officer Adam Lewinson told CNBC.

Tubi said it has more than 100 million monthly active users and 1 billion hours of streamed content per month. For comparison, Netflix reported more than 300 million subscribers as of late 2024, the last time it reported the metric, while Disney+ reported 131 million subscribers as of the end of September.

Nearly 60% of Tubi’s audience is made up of millennials or members of Generation Z, and nearly half are multicultural, Tubi said, citing an MRI-Simmons Cord Evolution Study of its audience.

Tubi bulks up its library by licensing films and TV series — some popular and some niche. The platform does produce original content, albeit at a smaller scale than its competitors. It’s also tapped Fox’s sports arsenal, airing two NFL games this year on Tubi, most notably the Super Bowl in February and a Thanksgiving Day game last month.

In total, Tubi boasts more than 300,000 titles on its platform.

Fox’s answer to streaming

In October, Fox reported that Tubi had reached profitability for the first time for the fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30, with Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch adding that it reached that milestone “earlier than expected.” Tubi reported 27% revenue growth for the quarter, which was driven by an 18% increase in total view time.

Murdoch said at the time the hope was for Tubi to continue on its trajectory so it could become “a meaningful contributor” to earnings in the near term.

The growth is validation for Fox, which took a different tack to the streaming game than its media peers. Its stock is up more than 40% this year, while other media stocks haven’t fared nearly as well amid a sea of uncertainty.

The company offloaded its entertainment assets to Disney in 2019, and its TV business — broadcast network Fox and cable networks like Fox News — consist mostly of news and sports. In 2020, the media company acquired Tubi for $440 million.

Since then, Tubi had been Fox’s main answer to streaming until recently, when the company launched Fox One, a direct-to-consumer streaming service of all Fox content for $19.99 per month. Murdoch has emphasized there are no plans for Fox One to produce original or exclusive content, leaving Tubi to shine with a digital and cost-conscious audience.

Free reigns

Paige Bulera, a 23-year-old from Buffalo, New York, said she doesn’t believe in paying for disappointment. That’s why Tubi has emerged as the winner amid all of her streaming apps.

Bulera said she watches movies more often than the average person and uses her sister’s logins for nearly all of the major streaming services. But with each subsequent price increase, she’s finding less satisfaction with their investment.

“Not only are they going up in price, it seems like with each price increase you’re losing things,” Bulera told CNBC. “It’s like now you can’t share accounts with people on Netflix, or even if it goes up in price, there’s still going to be ads.”

Her slate of movies heavily leans toward horror. Tubi said the platform has the largest collection of horror content with 9,000 titles, while also offering fan favorites spanning genres like “Coraline,” “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Tom and Jerry.”

“With Tubi, it’s completely free – you know you’re getting ads, but it’s promoted in a way where you can watch old movies, new movies, or Tubi originals, so that’s why I’m a big fan of the platform, mainly because of the fact that it’s cost-effective,” Bulera said.

A recent report from MoffettNathanson notes that streaming engagement remains strong at YouTube, followed by free, ad-supported platforms — called FAST channels — like Tubi, Paramount Skydance’s Pluto, and Roku’s The Roku Channel.

Tubi executives say the platform often gets caught up in the same conversation as platforms like Pluto because it offers channels in a guide format that reflect the traditional linear model. However, since nearly all of its viewership is on demand – meaning viewers are selecting films and series from the library rather than tuning into a preprogrammed channel – Tubi argues it should swim in the same pool as subscription services like Netflix and Disney+.

“Ninety-five percent of people are coming in with the intent to watch what they want to watch, and they are leaned in. They’re not passive viewers,” said Tubi’s Parlapiano.

Executives say that selection process makes Tubi viewers more inclined to watch ads than those tuning into other free, ad-supported channels for more of a laid-back experience — or simply to have something on in the background. That’s a strong sales pitch for advertisers.

“We’re 100% ad-supported, which other streamers are not. Yes, they have ad-supported tiers, but it’s unclear on each platform how big those tiers are and how much viewing is happening in an ad-supported environment,” Parlapiano said.

On Fox’s most recent earnings call, CFO Steve Tomsic said the company’s overall TV advertising revenue was up 6%, primarily driven by Tubi’s growth.

With 58% of its viewers skewing young, Tubi has invested a lot of work into appealing to younger generations, according to company executives.

In June, Tubi launched Tubi for Creators, part of a broader push from the company into incorporating content creators into Hollywood.

“The idea behind it is to give creators a pathway to Hollywood that really allows them to maintain their authenticity that made them popular in the first place and maintain a lot of creative control,” said Rich Bloom, head of Tubi for Creators. “We launched with six creators and about 500 episodes of content, and we’re now up to well over 100 creators and over 10,000 episodes of content.”

Tubi has signed deals with well-known YouTube entertainers to add their existing episodes to the platform, such as Dan and Riya’s “Beverly Valley High” and FunnyMike’s series “Mr. Creepy Eyes.” It’s also been inking deals with independent filmmakers through Kickstarter-funded projects.

Bloom said Tubi has seen that the category is attracting new, younger audiences, and the “retention rate of those viewers is actually better than our general new viewers.”

Tubi’s Lewinson said the platform has been particularly successful with young adult movies, like “Sidelined” and “Sidelined 2,” starring TikTok star Noah Beck. The franchise has brought in nearly 20 million viewers alone, with the median age of new viewers watching the sequel just 21 years old, Lewinson added.

“We are really proving that we can bring young viewers to a long-form streaming platform,” he said. “There’s a perception that they’re only interested in short-form – completely not accurate. So long as you have relevant content for their fandom, they’ll come to Tubi.”

Gen Z is also leaning into nostalgia, with older shows like “Columbo” and “Murder, She Wrote” popular on Tubi, too.

Tubi executives note its growing Gen Z and millennial audience is another selling point for advertisers.

“My acquisition team can go out and acquire whatever we can possibly find, but we’re finding that as we produce these types of stories, we’re really bringing in those viewers,” Lewinson said. “They’ll come in to watch ‘Sidelined,’ but then we’re following their journey to see what else they’re watching on the platform, and we’re making sure that we have plenty of those types of categories for those viewers to watch.”

Both said sales have grown as they win shoppers across the income spectrum, in the same week other major U.S. retailers Home Depot, Lowe’s and Target cut their profit outlooks and said they saw consumer reluctance to make large purchases.

In an interview with CNBC, Walmart CFO John David Rainey said the big-box retailer has seen “value-seeking and choiceful” spending patterns by consumers for the past several quarters. He said “it stands to reason, if there’s a little incremental strain on the consumer, they’re only going to become more so, they’re going to look for more value.”

And TJX CEO Ernie Herrman said the company, which includes Marshalls and Home Goods, has seen a “strong start” to the holiday quarter and is “convinced that consumers will continue to seek out value.”

Shares of both Walmart and TJX rose on Thursday, even as the three major U.S. stock indexes turned negative.

The performance of the two retailers, which are both strongly associated with compelling deals, jumps out at a moment when investors, industry watchers and economists are trying to predict retail sales during the critical holiday season and the outlook for the U.S. economy next year. Their performance could bode well for other off-price chains, such as Ross and Burlington, and value-focused players, including Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Five Below and Costco, which will report their most recent earnings in the coming weeks.

In recent months, a mix of factors have made it difficult to gauge how retailers and the broader economy will fare in the months ahead. That includes jitters about the job market following major layoffs at companies including Amazon, Verizon, UPS and Target, and concerns that the stock market has been propped up by artificial intelligence companies, contributing to the risk of an bubble. A prolonged government shutdown also muddied the waters by delaying the release of recent jobs and inflation data.

There have also been contradictions between what consumers say and do. Consumer sentiment has tumbled to nearly the lowest level ever, even as retail sales grew stronger in October, according to the CNBC/NRF Retail Monitor.

That’s led to murky holiday expectations. For example, the National Retail Federation predicted that holiday sales will grow by 3.7% to 4.2% year over year and top $1 trillion for the first time, while consulting firm PwC said consumers plan to cut their holiday spending average by 5% compared to the year-ago holiday season.

Home Depot, Lowe’s and Target put their thumbs on the scale this week. All three lowered their full-year profit forecasts and spoke of pressure on their businesses as customers hesitate to take on bigger projects or make pricier purchases.

For Home Depot and Lowe’s, the lack of consumer confidence may prolong a period of conservative spending driven by lower housing turnover. For more than two years, they have seen customers take on smaller home improvement projects rather than splurges like remodels and renovations that cost more or require financing. That pattern has held, even though they cater to U.S. consumers who typically own a home and have benefitted from home equity gains.

Lowe’s CEO Marvin Ellison said even homeowners are “not immune” to feeling shaken by news headlines about the government shutdown, higher tariffs and other policy changes that could hit their wallets — which could encourage price-sensitivity and procrastination on purchases. He said the home improvement retailer has focused on ways it can move the needle with its own strategies, such as expanding its merchandise assortment and attracting more home professionals as customers.

Target, which has faced some struggles of its own making, expects shoppers will watch prices and make trade-offs during the holiday season, such as spending more on gifts and less in other areas like decor or food, Chief Commercial Officer Rick Gomez said on a call with reporters. The retailer has cut prices on 3,000 food and home essentials and tried to attract shoppers with low opening price points, such as $1 Christmas tree ornaments.

At Walmart, Rainey told CNBC the company has “been gaining [market] share among all income cohorts, but as we noted for several quarters, they’re more pronounced in the upper-income segment.”

For TJX, Herrman said the company’s focus on value is a competitive edge. He said on the company’s earnings call that it’s blend of “brand, fashion, quality and price sets us apart from many other retailers and has served us extremely well through many kinds of retail and economic environments over the course of our nearly 50-year history.”

In a research note, retail analyst and Telsey Advisory Group CEO Dana Telsey said TJX’s repeated earnings beats “highlight the strength of its value-focused proposition, which continues to resonate with consumers amid an increasingly price-sensitive environment.”

Customers of all incomes are coming to TJX’s stores and website, but lower-income shoppers drove sales growth in most of its geographies in its latest quarter, CFO John Klinger said on an earnings call.

While Walmart and TJX have weathered cracks in the economy better than many other retailers, they’re not immune to economic weakness.

Walmart’s Rainey said that despite its strong sales forecast for the year, the retailer has spotted “pockets of moderation” among low-income shoppers as they feel more pinched than other customers. On the company’s earnings call on Thursday, he referred to the sharp disparity in wage growth between high- and low-income U.S. consumers.

He also told CNBC that the retailer noticed a pullback by customers who stopped receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits during the government shutdown. But Rainey said, “that’s starting to rebound now that people are receiving those funds again.”

“We’re seeing the same things that that others are, and we’re keeping a watchful eye on it,” he said on the company’s earnings call. “But again, I think Walmart is better insulated than just about anybody.”

As the festive season approaches, India’s real estate sector is gearing up for a strong demand surge, spanning metros, emerging cities, and holiday destinations alike.

With the RBI holding the repo rate steady at 5.5% and recent GST cuts on construction inputs, both homebuyers and developers are entering the market with renewed confidence.

From Jaipur’s tier-II residential hubs to Goa’s holiday homes, developers are optimistic that stable borrowing costs and improved affordability will translate into heightened sales and project activity during the festive quarter.

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) decision to maintain the repo rate at 5.5% in its October 2025 policy review has been welcomed by real estate leaders.

Developers believe the policy stability, combined with recent GST cuts on construction inputs, will enhance homebuyer confidence and create a favorable environment for housing demand across both metros and emerging markets.

Live Events

Policy Stability Meets Festive Demand

The festive quarter has traditionally been a catalyst for home buying in India. With steady borrowing costs and predictable EMIs, buyers are expected to take advantage of the positive sentiment.

Mohit Goel, Managing Director, Omaxe Ltd, said the central bank’s stance comes at the right time. “The RBI’s decision to maintain policy stability at the onset of the festive season is a timely and growth-supportive move. This period has always been a catalyst for homebuying decisions, and steady interest rates will further strengthen consumer confidence and purchasing power,” he explained.

Goel also highlighted the role of recent GST rationalisation. “Together, these policy measures create a conducive environment for housing demand, particularly in tier-II and tier-III cities where value sensitivity drives decisions. We expect the festive quarter to witness strong traction across residential segments as buyers look to capitalise on favourable market conditions and long-term growth prospects,” he added.

Tier-II and Tier-III Cities in Focus

Beyond metro markets, smaller cities are expected to benefit significantly from the supportive policy backdrop. Developers believe affordability, coupled with aspirational demand, will drive sales momentum.

Amrita Gupta, Director, Manglam Group, said the RBI’s decision provides a much-needed sense of continuity.

“The RBI’s decision to hold the repo rate steady at 5.5% provides a strong signal of stability, reinforcing confidence in India’s real estate sector. As the economy continues to show resilience and positive momentum, this festive season brings with it renewed optimism for homebuyers,” she said.

She noted that emerging cities are particularly well-positioned. “Coupled with recent GST benefits, this stable policy backdrop is inspiring demand across tier 2 and 3 markets, particularly in Jaipur, where buyers are seeking affordability, aspirational living, and long-term value creation. At Manglam, we believe this confluence of festive sentiment, supportive policy measures, and the rising growth of emerging cities will accelerate sustainable urbanisation and further strengthen India’s real estate growth story,” Gupta added.

Second Homes Gain Momentum

Alongside primary housing, the holiday home and second-home markets are also benefiting from the RBI’s steady stance. Rising interest from NRIs and affluent domestic buyers is fueling investments in lifestyle-driven properties.

Aditya Kushwaha, CEO and Director, Axis Ecorp, said the stable rate regime is reassuring for investors eyeing holiday homes.

“This year has seen strong momentum in the real estate market, with buyers increasingly confident about investing, and the current economic environment continues to support informed investment decisions. The RBI’s decision to hold rates reflects a cautious but steady approach, which is reassuring for buyers in the middle of the festive season,” he said.

Kushwaha pointed out that the holiday home market, especially in destinations like Goa, is seeing robust demand. “Stability in monetary policy keeps sentiment positive for holiday homes, where both NRIs and domestic buyers are showing strong interest. Along with the recent GST concessions on construction inputs, it creates an environment where second homes remain attractive as both lifestyle and long-term investment assets. We see this as a window where second homes, especially in markets like Goa, will attract more decisive investments,” he noted.

Outlook: Building Momentum into 2026

With stable interest rates, GST relief, festive season demand, and growing appetite for both first and second homes, the real estate sector is expected to witness sustained momentum in the months ahead. Developers anticipate that both emerging cities and luxury markets will see robust traction, setting the stage for a strong close to 2025 and a positive outlook for 2026.

Germany this week played host to one of the world’s biggest auto shows — but in the heartland of Europe’s auto industry, it was buzzy Chinese electric car companies looking to outshine some of the region’s biggest brands on their home turf.

The IAA Mobility conference in Munich was packed full of companies with huge stands showing off their latest cars and technology. Among some of the biggest displays were those from Chinese electric car companies, underscoring their ambitions to expand beyond China.

Europe has become a focal point for the Asian firms. It’s a market where the traditional automakers are seen to be lagging in the development of electric vehicles, even as they ramp up releases of new cars. At the same time, Tesla, which was for so long seen as the electric vehicle market leader, has seen sales decline in the region.

Despite Chinese EV makers facing tariffs from the European Union, players from the world’s second-largest economy have responded to the ramping up of competition by setting aggressive sales and expansion targets.

“The current growth of Xpeng globally is faster than we have expected,” He Xiaopeng, the CEO of Xpeng told CNBC in an interview this week.

Aggressive expansion plans

Chinese carmakers who spoke to CNBC at the IAA show signaled their ambitious expansion plans.

Xpeng’s He said in an interview that the company is looking to launch its mass-market Mona series in Europe next year. In China, Xpeng’s Mona cars start at the equivalent of just under $17,000. Bringing this to Europe would add some serious price competition.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) is targeting rapid growth of its sales in Europe. Wei Haigang, president of GAC International, told CNBC that the company aims to sell around 3,000 cars in Europe this year and at least 50,000 units by 2027. GAC also announced plans to bring two EVs — the Aion V and Aion UT — to Europe. Leapmotor was also in attendance with their own stand.

There are signs that Chinese players have made early in roads into Europe. The market share of Chinese car brands in Europe nearly doubled in the first half of the year versus the same period in 2024, though it still remains low at just over 5%, according to Jato Dynamics.

“The significant presence of Chinese electric vehicle (EV) makers at the IAA Mobility, signals their growing ambitions and confidence in the European market,” Murtuza Ali, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research, told CNBC.

Tech and gadgets in focus

Many of the Chinese car firms have positioned themselves as technology companies, much like Tesla, and their cars highlight that.

Many of the electric vehicles have big screens equipped with flashy interfaces and voice assistants. And in a bid to lure buyers, some companies have included additional gadgets.

For example, GAC’s Aion V sported a refrigerator as well as a massage function as part of the seating.

This is one way that the Chinese players sought to differentiate themselves from legacy brands.

“The chances of success for Chinese automakers are strong, especially as they have an edge in terms of affordability, battery technology, and production scale,” Counterpoint’s Ali said.

Europe’s carmakers push back

Legacy carmakers sought to flex their own muscles at the IAA with Volskwagen, BMW and Mercedes having among the biggest stands at the show. Mercedes in particular had advertising displayed all across the front entrance of the event.

BMW, like the Chinese players, had a big focus on technology by talking up its so-called “superbrain architecture,” which replaces hardware with a centralized computer system. BMW, which introduced the iX3 at the event, and chipmaker Qualcomm also announced assisted driving software that the two companies co-developed.

Volkswagen and French auto firm Renault also showed off some new electric cars.

Regardless of the product blitz, there are still concerns that European companies are not moving fast enough. BMW’s new iX3 is based on the electric vehicle platform it first debuted two years ago. Meanwhile, Chinese EV makers have been quick in bringing out and launching newer models.

“A commitment to legacy structures and incrementalism has slowed its ability to build and leverage a robust EV ecosystem, leaving it behind fast moving rivals,” Tammy Madsen, professor of management at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, said of BMW.

While European autos have a strong brand history and their CEOs acknowledged and welcomed the competition this week in interviews with CNBC, the Chinese are not letting up.

Since the beginning of July, Ethereum has been on a bullish trajectory, experiencing an over 54% increase in the past month. After breaking past key resistance levels, the second-largest crypto asset appears to have found stability above the $3,700 mark. While ETH has displayed a powerful rally over the past weeks, major investors have been turning up at a rapid rate.

Large Ethereum Investors Are Expanding

Ethereum’s price has displayed robust resilience, holding strong above crucial resistance levels such as $3,700. Its notable resilience is now being backed by a steady increase in large investors often regarded in the crypto sector as whales.

The rise in whale wallet addresses holding large amounts of ETH was reported by Santiment, a leading market intelligence and on-chain data platform, on X. This growth indicates a renewed wave of confidence from high-net-worth investors towards the altcoin leader.

With institutional and high-net-worth participants reentering the market, these cohorts might be anticipating a more widespread rebound or a tactical shift in ETH’s long-term worth. It might indicate a turning point in the course of ETH’s current upward action.

Santiment revealed in the research that Ethereum whales are growing while Bitcoin whales are decreasing. This analysis of the behavior and interests of large investors, conducted by the on-chain firm, spans a period of two weeks.

ETH Whales are growing | Source: Santiment on X

Data from the platform shows that the number of big wallet addresses holding at least 10,000 ETH has increased by an additional 90 wallets in the last 2 weeks. The additional wallet addresses reflect an over 8% growth within the time frame.

Ali Martinez, a market expert and trader, offering more insight on ETH’s whale action, has highlighted a massive accumulation among these cohorts. His investigation is centered around wallet addresses holding between 10,000 and 100,000 ETH.

According to the expert, some of the biggest whales have purchased more than 220,000 ETH on the network in the last 2 days. At current price levels, this massive ETH accumulation is valued at around $840 million.

This quiet accumulation reflects that major investors are becoming more confident in Ethereum’s prospects and the ongoing upward trend. Since the growing accumulation of ETH coincides with rising prices, this action may imply that major investors are positioning themselves ahead of a possible market breakout.

Trump’s World Liberty Buying ETH Again

A recent report from Lookonchain reveals that World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a crypto venture linked to United States President Donald Trump, has resumed its ETH purchase. The crypto venture bought about 256 ETH, valued at $1.01 million at the time of purchase.

With this latest purchase, WLFI has further fortified its ETH exposure. Presently, World Liberty Financial has acquired a total of 77,226 ETH, worth approximately $296 million at an average price of $3,294. Furthermore, the venture is sitting on an unrealized profit of $41 million.

The NFL is cracking down on the resale of Super Bowl tickets by players, coaches and club employees.

The league plans to fine more than 100 players and roughly two dozen club employees who were found to be in violation of the NFL’s Ticket Resale policy in connection with Super Bowl 59 tickets, according to an internal memo from the league’s chief compliance officer, Sabrina Perel, that was viewed by CNBC.

An investigation found that those players and personnel were selling these tickets to resale “bundlers” at a profit, according to the memo.

Players will be fined 1.5-times the face value of the tickets they sold, and employees will be fined twice the face value, according to a person familiar with the matter who declined to be named speaking about nonpublic details.

Non-player personnel found in violation of the policy will also lose the ability to purchase future NFL tickets, according to the memo.

The league prohibits employees and players from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket’s face value or more than the employee originally paid — whichever is less.

The league is also taking steps to enhance compliance training ahead of Super Bowl 60 and said it will increase penalties for future offenses.

“No one should profit personally from their NFL affiliation at the expense of our fans,” Perel wrote in the memo.
