They say journalists never truly clock out. But for Christian, that’s not just a metaphor, it’s a lifestyle. By day, he navigates the ever-shifting tides of the cryptocurrency market, wielding words like a seasoned editor and crafting articles that decipher the jargon for the masses. When the PC goes on hibernate mode, however, his pursuits take a more mechanical (and sometimes philosophical) turn.

Christian’s journey with the written word began long before the age of Bitcoin. In the hallowed halls of academia, he honed his craft as a feature writer for his college paper. This early love for storytelling paved the way for a successful stint as an editor at a data engineering firm, where his first-month essay win funded a months-long supply of doggie and kitty treats – a testament to his dedication to his furry companions (more on that later).

Christian then roamed the world of journalism, working at newspapers in Canada and even South Korea. He finally settled down at a local news giant in his hometown in the Philippines for a decade, becoming a total news junkie. But then, something new caught his eye: cryptocurrency. It was like a treasure hunt mixed with storytelling – right up his alley!

So, he landed a killer gig at NewsBTC, where he’s one of the go-to guys for all things crypto. He breaks down this confusing stuff into bite-sized pieces, making it easy for anyone to understand (he salutes his management team for teaching him this skill).

Think Christian’s all work and no play? Not a chance! When he’s not at his computer, you’ll find him indulging his passion for motorbikes. A true gearhead, Christian loves tinkering with his bike and savoring the joy of the open road on his 320-cc Yamaha R3. Once a speed demon who hit 120mph (a feat he vowed never to repeat), he now prefers leisurely rides along the coast, enjoying the wind in his thinning hair.

Speaking of chill, Christian’s got a crew of furry friends waiting for him at home. Two cats and a dog. He swears cats are way smarter than dogs (sorry, Grizzly), but he adores them all anyway. Apparently, watching his pets just chillin’ helps him analyze and write meticulously formatted articles even better.

Here’s the thing about this guy: He works a lot, but he keeps himself fueled by enough coffee to make it through the day – and some seriously delicious (Filipino) food. He says a delectable meal is the secret ingredient to a killer article. And after a long day of crypto crusading, he unwinds with some rum (mixed with milk) while watching slapstick movies.

Looking ahead, Christian sees a bright future with NewsBTC. He says he sees himself privileged to be part of an awesome organization, sharing his expertise and passion with a community he values, and fellow editors – and bosses – he deeply respects.

So, the next time you tread into the world of cryptocurrency, remember the man behind the words – the crypto crusader, the grease monkey, and the feline philosopher, all rolled into one.

The Ojai is the first vehicle to take advantage of the sixth-generation Waymo Driver, the company’s proprietary driving system, which includes technology that can better detect critical details in low-light situations.

The vehicles, integrating new hardware and software, are made by China’s Geely, and cost significantly less to manufacture than earlier Waymo cars made by Jaguar and others. The Ojai robotaxis require fewer costly cameras and sensors than the previous Jaguar I-PACE vehicles.

Waymo, which got a $16 billion cash infusion in February from parent company Alphabet and other backers, offers fully autonomous robotaxis in several U.S. markets and plans to begin service in London later this year. The company has driven over 20 million overall autonomous rides and is looking to hit 1 million weekly trips by the end of the year, Powell said.

Powell said Waymo has learned from the design team that the “familiar form factor of the I-PACE and having the steering wheel and the pedals up there” helps people get “over that hump of trying something new.”

When asked whether the cars will integrate Google’s Gemini technology, Powell said the company is exploring more “natural ways of interacting with the vehicle” using AI technology. He gave the example of telling the car to move up a little further.

“I get excited about some of the things that you see on the Gemini side that may make some of those things possible,” he said.

While Waymo rapidly expands, the company is also dealing with some safety-related setbacks.

Earlier this month, Waymo issued a voluntary recall of about 3,800 of its robotaxis to fix software issues that could allow them to drive into flooded roadways, after incidents were captured on social media. Waymo said last week that it’s temporarily pausing freeway rides after spotting problems with its performance around construction zones.

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Ethereum’s recent period of consolidation may be doing more than simply slowing price action. After a strong rally, ETH has entered a range-bound structure where buyers and sellers continue to battle for control, allowing the market to absorb gains and establish new support levels. Similar periods of consolidation have often preceded significant directional moves, particularly when accompanied by improving market sentiment and growing institutional participation.

How Consolidation Often Precedes Expansion In Ethereum Cycles

Ethereum’s recent pullback is being interpreted as a necessary reset within a larger cycle. Crypto analyst Rios noted on X that ETH’s nearly 19% drop could be a cycle reset that helps clear out excessive weak market positioning before a stronger move higher.

Historically, sharp corrections have often occurred during broader uptrends, serving as periods where the market recalibrates before momentum returns into ETH aggressively. At the same time, long-term holders have reportedly maintained their accumulation while interest surrounding spot ETF developments and on-chain network activity remains resilient.

According to Rios, these factors suggest that investor conviction has not materially weakened despite the recent volatility. This move is more like the end of a trend reversal than a volatility reset within a larger bullish structure. However, if the ETH price stabilizes in this region, the next recovery phase could pave the way for a stronger upside momentum than expected.

Concerns Around The Ethereum Foundation Continue To Spark Debate

Massive Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) is currently building up around Ethereum. With concerns ranging from developer departures and Bankless, which has heavily supported ETH and built its entire business and Public Relations (PR) model around it, has sold their ETH and bought the overhyped Zcash. Analyst Papaxem has explained that there’s a lot of FUD about the Ethereum Foundation’s inability to manage the project, and some of these concerns contain elements of truth.

However, the key point often overlooked is that a single entity does not control the Ethereum Foundation. Even as the Ethereum Foundation faces scrutiny, development and ecosystem growth continue through other major contributors such as ConsenSys and a wide range of independent teams.

Source: Chart from Papaxem on X

This distributed structure is not a weakness, but a reflection of true decentralization in action. From a fundamental value perspective, ETH remains unchanged; its core value proposition, network activity, and role within the broader crypto ecosystem are intact.

Papaxem stated that from an investor’s point of view, this environment may represent an asymmetric opportunity, a fundamentally strong asset facing solvable challenges, with price action potentially reflecting fear more than reality. If sentiment stabilizes, ETH could once again demonstrate resilience, as it has in previous cycles marked by similar FUD waves.

Zhang Bo, co-founder of Didi and head of its autonomous driving business, disclosed the plans at a UAE-China business cooperation forum in Beijing earlier this week, according to the statement. Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday as part of a three-day state visit.

Chinese robotaxi companies have ramped up their global expansion plans in the last two years, with the Middle East emerging as an early launch market, followed by tests in Europe. Meanwhile, Alphabet-backed Waymo has rolled out fleets across more of the U.S. and has begun tests in London and Japan.

Anthropic said Thursday it’s expanding its presence in London with new office space for 800 people, days after rival OpenAI unveiled plans for its first permanent office in the U.K. capital.

The maker of the Claude AI chatbot currently has more than 200 people based in London, the company said in a statement.

“London is already one of our most important research and commercial hubs outside the US, and our expansion in the Knowledge Quarter gives us the room to grow into,” Pip White, Anthropic’s head of EMEA north, said in a statement.

“The UK combines ambitious enterprises and institutions that understand what’s at stake with AI safety with an exceptional pool of AI talent — we want to be where all of that comes together.”

Anthropic’s new office space will be located in the Knowledge Quarter area of London, home to a slew of AI companies including OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta, Synthesia and Wayve.

The announcement follows a reported campaign to court Anthropic by U.K. officials, after the company’s spat with the U.S. Pentagon over the use of its AI models.

Anthropic has been gaining momentum recently, releasing its viral coding agent, Claude Code, alongside its Mythos AI model, which excels at identifying weaknesses and security flaws within software.

The company most recently raised $30 billion at a $380 billion valuation in February and has fielded VC offer to invest at an $800 billion valuation, according to reports.

Its annual run-rate revenue has surpassed $30 billion, with more than 1,000 businesses each spending over $1 million annually.

Businesses that accept Bitcoin will pay no processing fees for the next two years as part of a new push to move digital currency into the everyday economy.

This fee waiver, which lasts until the end of 2026, aims to remove one of the biggest hurdles for small shops and local vendors who want to try new payment methods without losing money on transaction costs.

Instant Cash Conversions For Local Shops

The plan allows US merchants to accept Bitcoin while receiving US dollars in their accounts by default. This setup removes the risk of price swings that often make business owners nervous about digital assets.

When a customer pays at the counter, the system converts the crypto into cash immediately. Reports show that this feature requires no extra setup for those who qualify, and the money moves into the merchant’s balance almost instantly.

Connecting the ecosystem with @Square has been the dream since we launched bitcoin in @CashApp in 2018

Starting today, all merchants can now seamlessly stack bitcoin behind the scenes from their daily sales

Bitcoin Payments Acceptance will be live for everyone on November 10 pic.twitter.com/mTqbu8wfGG

While the default setting is to receive cash, there is a choice for those who want to keep some of the digital currency. Owners can set their accounts to “stack” a portion of their daily sales in crypto instead of taking the full amount in dollars.

Data shows that the rollout began on Monday and should reach all eligible Square users by Nov. 10. Businesses based in New York are currently excluded from the program due to specific state regulations.

We’re making it easier for millions of businesses to accept bitcoin.

Starting today, eligible U.S. @Square sellers will begin having Bitcoin payments automatically enabled.

Sellers who accept bitcoin will receive USD as default.

This is how bitcoin as everyday money begins.

Big Tech Moves Toward Everyday Crypto

Jack Dorsey, the head of Block, shared the news following an announcement from the company’s Bitcoin product lead, Miles Suter. The goal is to make these transactions feel like using “everyday money” for millions of businesses.

Block currently holds 8,883 BTC on its own books, which ranks it as the 14th-largest public holder of the asset. The company bought its supply at an average price of $32,939 per coin, according to BitcoinTreasuries.net.

Bitcoin is now trading at $66,537. Chart: TradingView

The move by Square is part of a larger trend where financial companies are blending traditional banking with digital assets.

For instance, some mortgage lenders now allow people to use their crypto holdings to meet loan requirements without selling their coins first.

Image: PYMNTS

Other platforms like Coinbase and Kraken have also brought back programs that let users borrow cash against their Bitcoin.

Expanding Financial Options For Borrowers

Recent reports indicate that this shift is reaching into the housing market as well. Better Home & Finance recently teamed up with a major exchange to allow buyers to use their digital assets as collateral for down payments on home loans. This allows a homeowner to secure a mortgage while keeping their investment intact.

Another camp believes the recent action is only a pause within a broader downtrend, with more range consolidation and lower levels still ahead before any real rally begins.

That divide is exactly where expert analyst Tony Severino steps in with a very cautious outlook. According to the crypto trading expert, Bitcoin might not see a rally again until complacency is crushed.

A Warning Against The Bullish Complacency

Severino, who posts under the handle @tonythebullBTC on X, recently declared that “the 16-year Bitcoin expansion is over.” This is a statement that carries particular weight given his track record. He had previously anticipated that Bitcoin’s bull run would end in 2025 and projected that the corrective wave ushering in a bear market could extend as far as mid-2027.

Related Reading

Severino’s latest comments directly challenge the idea that Bitcoin is simply gearing up for another rally. The comments were in response to a sarcastic post by another analyst. In his view, the widespread belief that the Bitcoin price will continue to rise indefinitely is misplaced.

Severino describes the current environment as one dominated by complacency, where investors have grown too comfortable buying dips without questioning the broader structure. According to him, it is because of people like this who think it will only go up forever.

Destruction First, Then Growth

The most important part of Severino’s outlook is not just that a downturn could happen, but that it is necessary. Only when that complacency is fully broken, he contends, can a new cycle begin on a stronger footing.

Related Reading

“This destruction and reset is necessary for growth again. But not until complacency is crushed,” he said. “Complacency says: ‘Same asset, same behavior.’ Reality: Same asset, different environment = different outcome distribution,” he continued.

This is not the first time Tony Severino has sounded the alarm of complacency for investors who are strongly bullish despite Bitcoin’s recent price struggles. Back in February, he pointed out that the Bitcoin price may have already reached a 16-year cyclical peak.

Notably, this 16-year cyclical peak concept has become a recurring theme in his broader outlook. That same idea resurfaced again in his latest remarks, where he noted the complacency among some investors.

In another analysis, Severino predicted a somewhat -72% maximum drawdown from Bitcoin’s October 2025 peak price of $126,000. If that scenario plays out, it would place Bitcoin’s price in the region of $34,000 before a more sustainable bottom can form.

Ethereum saw a brief bounce, which pushed its price above the $2,000 mark, but this upward move seems lost its momentum and has fallen below the level. Amid this, ETH’s price bounce on Tuesday comes a notable spike in the network’s on-chain activity and the creation of new wallet addresses.

Ethereum Activity Spikes to Historic Levels

Even though the broader cryptocurrency market appears highly volatile, Ethereum investors are moving against the current trend and exhibiting renewed bullish sentiment. This renewed euphoria toward the leading altcoin is shown by a sudden wave of fresh investors entering the market each day.

Santiment, a popular market intelligence and on-chain data analytics platform, took to the X platform to share this rise in network activity amid a brief bounce. Ethereum’s price has briefly increased, and a more interesting narrative is now developing beneath the surface.

As ETH attempts to stabilize above the $2,000 level after recent volatility, bulls and bears are currently battling over whether the resistance will be breached in the long run. In the meantime, on-chain data indicates a significant increase in user involvement, which shows a historic spike in the creation of new wallets and total network activity.

Using the 30-day averages, there has been an increase in fresh addresses and network activity on a daily basis. The chart shared by Santiment shows that there are over 837,200 active ETH wallet addresses per day, representing more than 80% rise in comparison to 5 years ago.

When compared to 10 years ago, this figure marks an over 1,135% spike. The increase in new addresses may indicate new funding, a resurgence of interest, or the reactivation of previously excluded players joining the ecosystem.

In terms of new Ethereum wallet addresses, there have been over 284,800 created per day. This number represents a +64% uptick compared to 5 years ago and a more than 1,967% increase compared to 10 years ago. A steady increase in wallet creation often signals deeper network usage and growing popularity, which may trigger a larger price surge.

A Historic Pattern Unfolding On The ETH Chart

Despite the bearish market conditions, Ethereum is forming a key pattern that would flip the altcoin towards the upside. According to Coinvo Trading, a full-time crypto trader on X, the impending ETH move “is going to shock the entire world.”

After examining the altcoin’s performance on the weekly time frame, Coinvo Trading highlighted that the same Rainbow pattern that occurred in previous cycles before every major ETH rally has returned. When ETH retests the middle of the Rainbow chart, the altcoin usually blows up.

The altcoin is currently retesting the same level after hitting it once more. Should history repeat itself, ETH could be set for one of its most significant rallies. While investors are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a sign of an upswing, the expert stated that this repeating rainbow pattern is the signal they have been anticipating.

China’s market size remains lucrative for foreign businesses. “It’s not lost for the U.S. automakers,” said Sino Auto Insights’ Le.

He noted that General Motors still delivers nearly 2 million cars a year in China, and, like Ford, also exports cars from the country. The automakers could turn that manufacturing capacity inward if they can design vehicles capable of competing in China, he said, noting “that’s where GM is closer than Ford.”

Le cautioned that it could be too early for any automaker, domestic or foreign, to declare victory in the world’s largest auto market.

“But in China, you could be on top one month, and by next quarter, you’re playing catch-up and wonder what happened.”

The financially struggling Trump Media & Technology Group’s shocking, $6 billion merger with a nuclear fusion developer represents either a bet on more taxpayer dollars being invested in the first fusion player to go public—soon owned in part by the Trump family—or a belief that an influx of capital will speed up the launch of clean, limitless electricity that eventually will transform the global grid.

Trump Media’s struggling stock had plummeted nearly 70% year-to-date prior to the announcement. But the stock value spiked over 40% on the deal news with the market cap rising back above $4 billion on Dec. 18—even though TAE Technologies doesn’t plan to bring its first power plant online until 2031 to start generating revenues.

TAE Technologies CEO Michl Binderbauer recognizes the potential negative perception, but he told Fortune he’s eager to speed up the clean energy revolution that he is confident will come with the so-called merger of equals with Trump Media, which will become a Truth Social media, cryptocurrency, and fusion power conglomerate.

“In the end, if we get more scrutiny because of the deal we did, I actually don’t mind that,” Binderbauer said. “It’s perversely sounding, but I welcome it in a way because we let the technology speak.

“It’s big, bold and fast. You make a big bet with boldness at heart, and it allows you to run really fast,” he said. “I know our technology will succeed. Let it be adjudicated on a perhaps even deeper level. We need more energy; we need clean, scalable power.”

Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen government watchdog group, sees it quite differently as an obviously unethical cash grab by the president and his family.

“It’s a ridiculous merger. Why in the world would those two companies merge, and why would the markets respond positively?” Weissman said. “The markets are betting on the prospect of the Trump grift expanding and for … direct federal government payments to a company whose leading shareholder is the president of the United States.”

TAE has received federal Department of Energy grants dating back to Trump’s first term and continuing through the Biden administration. As part of a reorganization announced in November, the DOE is opening a new Office of Fusion.

The deal would value the merged company at $6 billion, including debt, and Binderbauer and Trump Media head Devin Nunes would serve as co-CEOs, they said. Shareholders of each company would own about 50% of the combined company. Donald Trump Jr. would take one of the nine board seats.

Trump Media will invest up to $200 million in TAE up front and another $100 million before the deal closes in mid-2026, they said.

TAE aims to select a site for its first power plant by the end of 2026 and generate first power by late 2031, on par with the goals of some of its top competitors.

In a statement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the media is irresponsibly trying to fabricate conflicts of interest.

“Neither the president nor his family have ever engaged, or will ever engage, in conflicts of interest,” Leavitt said.

The DOE, Trump Org, and Trump Media did not respond to interview or comment requests.

In a media call during which no questions were allowed, Nunes said fusion power will lower energy prices, bolster national defense, and support “America’s dominance” of AI.

“Why is fusion power revolutionary? It’s because fusion power plants are now feasible at commercial scale, and they will produce reliable, cost-effective, dispatchable, and carbon-free electricity, and industrial heat with no nuclear meltdown risk or radioactive waste,” Nunes added.

Struggling Trump Media marries nuclear fusion in $6B deal that's ‘ridiculous’ expansion of ‘Trump grift’ or a boost to the tech that changes the world | Fortune 46

The potential of fusion

The joke about fusion energy is it’s always 30 years away and not getting any closer.

However, the breakthrough scientific moment came at the end of 2022 when scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory successfully achieved “first ignition,” fusing atoms through extreme heat to generate more energy than the setup consumes for the first time ever.

Since then, TAE and other competitors have continued to make greater fusion progress on their various scientific approaches to fusion power generation.

Whereas traditional nuclear fission energy creates power by splitting atoms, fusion uses heat to create energy by melding them together. In the simplest form, it fuses hydrogen found in water into an extremely hot, electrically charged state known as plasma to create helium—the same process that powers the sun. When executed properly, the process triggers endless reactions to make energy for electricity. But stars rely on overwhelming gravitational pressure to force their fusion. Here on Earth, creating and containing the pressure needed to force the reaction in a consistent, controlled way remains an engineering challenge.

While TAE and others are targeting the early 2030s to bring the first commercial fusion power plants online, industry analysts agree it will take several additional years at least to start making a notable dent in the nationwide or even global energy grid. Still, the long-term potential remains huge.

“Fusion power is the answer to providing reliable, cost-effective, carbon-free electricity,” Binderbauer said.

TAE was founded 27 years ago—originally as Tri Alpha Energy—but stayed in stealth mode until 2015. Actor turned entrepreneur and angel investor Harry Hamlin was even a cofounder back in 1998. An Austrian-American physicist, Binderbauer served as the founding chief technology officer, eventually rising to CEO in 2018.

Over time, TAE has raised a combined $1.3 billion from Google, Chevron, Charles Schwab, and many others.

“Do you raise $1 billion in scaled capital over multiple years? Or do you have it come at high velocity?” Binderbauer asked. “The high velocity is critical if you want to build something quickly and efficiently.

“The concerns are very secondary.”

That’s what makes the Trump Media deal so critical, he said.
