Sensex and Nifty ended in red today after hitting lifetime highs during the day. There was a lot of selling pressure in the auto and FMCG stocks. Sensex hit a fresh lifetime high of 75,124 during the day while nifty also hit a new peak of 22,765 intraday

Top Gainers and losers
The top gainers were Apollo Hospitals, Hindalco, ICICI Bank, Infosys and Bajaj Finserv while the top losers were Titan Company, Hero MotoCorp, Coal India, Reliance Industries (RIL) and Asian Paints.

Sectoral performance
The top laggards were Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty FMCG. Nifty Auto was down by 0.31%. Top performers were Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Bank

Nifty Midcap 100 was down 0.29%, Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.27%.

Global markets
Most major Asian indices managed a positive closing. While China’s Shanghai Composite closed with minor gains of 0.05%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumped by over 1%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index and Singapore’s FTSE Straits Times Index gained 0.57%, and 0.67%.

Crude Impact
Crude oil prices were trading higher on Tuesday with US WTI oil contracts trading at $86.520, while Brent oil futures were hovering near $90.520.
