A day after the Union Budget, Indian blue-chip indices closed lower on Wednesday amid selling in banking and financial stocks.
The 50-component index Nifty 50 closed 0.27% or 65.5 points lower at 24,413.50 while the S&P BSE Sensex closed the day at 80,149, down by 0.35% or 280 points.
12 of 30 Sensex stocks end in the green. Nifty Bank was in the red whereas NIFTY, Media was up 2.44%.

Shares of Thyrocare Technologies gained 19% after reporting a 46% jump in its PAT to Rs 24.7 crore for the first quarter ended June 2024.
Avanti Feeds
The shares of Avanti Feeds surged 14% on BSE today after the Finance Minister announced plans for Shrimp Farming in the Budget on Tuesday.
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance
ICICI Pru shares jumped 9% on BSE after posting an 8.7% YoY jump in its profit after tax for Q1FY25.
Bajaj Finserv
Shares of Bajaj Finserv tumbled 2.5% on BSE despite a 10% YoY rise in its PAT to Rs 2,138 crore.
FMCG stocks
Shares of FMCG companies like Britannia, Marico, Nestle, Dabur and Godrej Consumer Products fell by 1-3% on BSE today amid some profit booking after the sector rallied on Tuesday post the Budget speech.
