The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq opened higher on Thursday, with focus on U.S.-Japan tariff talks, while a slump in UnitedHealth’s shares dragged the Dow lower.
UnitedHealth’s shares tumbled 18% after the company lowered its forecast for the year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 462.72 points, or 1.17%, to 39,206.67. The S&P 500 rose 29.8 points, or 0.56%, at the open to 5,305.45, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 92.8 points, or 0.57%, to 16,399.973 at the opening bell.
