Central Depository Services Limited reported a mixed performance for the fourth quarter of financial year 2026, with profitability under pressure despite steady revenue growth.

Net profit declined 20% year-on-year to Rs 80.22 crore, compared with Rs 100.31 crore in the same quarter last year. However, revenue rose 17.1% YoY to Rs 262.85 crore from Rs 224.49 crore, while EBITDA increased 6.7% to Rs 116.75 crore from Rs 109.43 crore. Margins contracted to 44.4% from 48.7% a year ago.

Total income stood at Rs 268 crore, up 5% from Rs 265 crore in the year-ago period, but declined 20% sequentially from Rs 334 crore.

The board approved a final dividend of Rs 12.75 per share for FY26.

On the operational front, CDSL crossed a major milestone, becoming the first depository to surpass 18 crore demat accounts as of March 31, 2026. This builds on the 15.30 crore accounts recorded a year ago, with approximately 2.71 crore new accounts added during FY26.

Management noted that despite geopolitical uncertainty and market volatility, the underlying market infrastructure has remained stable and reliable, supporting investor confidence. The company added that it will continue investing in people and technology to ensure the securities ecosystem remains accessible, secure, and efficient for investors across geographies.

FY26 stands as a defining year in our journey of empowering India’s Atmanirbhar Investors. Surpassing 18 crore demat accounts reflects not merely scale, but the deepening trust of Indian households in the securities market, and with under 10% of India’s population participating today, the runway ahead remains substantial, management added. On a full-year basis, Central Depository Services reported a steady performance for FY25–26, with total income rising 3% to Rs 1,239 crore from Rs 1,199 crore in FY24–25. Net profit, however, tanked to Rs 455 crore, marking a 14% YoY decline from Rs 526 crore.
