The Future & Options contracts of any stock enter the ban period when the open interest (OI) on it crosses 95% of the market wide positions limits or MWPL. The ban on it is reversed only if the open interest falls below 80%.
Traders who trade in index do not encounter a situation of security ban.
The MWPL for ABFRL stood at 87.3% on Wednesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 16.1 million. It was down 16.4% from the previous session.
The MWPL for Granules India stood at 118.2% on Wednesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 7.8 million. It was down 17.8% from the previous session.
The MWPL for Hindustan Copper stood at 91.5% on Wednesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 5 million. It was down by 30.1% from the previous session.For IEX, the MWPL stood at 92% on Wednesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 13.2 million. It was down 20.1% from the previous session.The MWPL for Vodafone Idea stood at 91.8% on Wednesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 1.4 billion. It was down 5.8% from the previous session.
Despite a weak start to the session on Wednesday, Nifty and Sensex closed at fresh highs, pushed by a rally in energy and banking stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 255 points, or 0.30%, to settle at 85,169, while the broader NSE Nifty added 64 points, or 0.25%, to end at 26,004.
